2016 Rallies Further Information
The information below was in the December 2015 edition of Contours

Easter Rally at Sysonby Acres. Melton Mowbray
24 – 29 March 2016 (5 nights)

The site is a small but attractive leisure park next to an 18 hole golf course (which we can use) and is close to Melton Mowbray. We will have the use of a small function room so no drafty party tent!

Melton Mowbray is a small town with lots of places to visit and is known as the rural capital of food. It is the home of the pork pie and Stilton cheese.

Come and join us - you do not have to stay all 5 nights if you can’t get time off work.

Their website is at http://www.sysonbyacres.co.uk/.

old local town of Fordingbridge with the River Avon flowing through, is also close by.

It is within easy reach of Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, Beaulieu Motor Museumand the South coast.

Rally at the Hendre Mynach Touring and Caravan Park, Barmouth
Friday 8th – Sunday 10th July 2016

A repeat of the very successful rally held here last year. Hendre Mynach is a friendly camp site for touring caravans and tents. It is just 100 metres from Barmouth Beach in North West Wales and is on the new ‘Wales Coast Path’.

You can walk from the site directly on to the Barmouth Promenade and beach. Barmouth is a dog-friendly town and the beach has a large dog exercise zone.

There are stunning hills around Barmouth offering breathtaking views and plenty of walks to enjoy, from the gentle, level strolls along the promenade and all the way to Cadair Idris.

Not far from the site there are castles to visit and the Talyllyn Railway. A must for many visitors to visit is Portmeirion the setting for the TV series ‘The Prisoner'.

Club Meet at Robin Hood’s Bay
Friday 9th to Sunday 18th September 2016.

We have arranged a Club Meet (formerly known as a Gathering) at the Middlewood Farm Holiday Park in Fylingthorpe, which is close to Robin Hood’s Bay on the North Yorkshire Coast, from Friday 9th to Sunday 18th September 2014. The site is just 10 minutes walk along a footpath through fields and a wood down to the picturesque village of Robin Hoods Bay and the beach.

The site is set in delightful countryside in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and has magnificent panoramic country, moorland and sea views. It is just 5 miles (10 minutes drive) from Whitby with its unspoilt fishing port and abbey. Attractions within easy reach of the site include Scarborough, the North Yorkshire Moors and NYM Railway, Eden Camp and Flamingo Land.

For a video clip about the site look at their website at http://www.middlewoodfarm.com/.

Middlewood Farm is an ideal base for just relaxing or for walking, with many walks, cycle tracks and cliff paths either from the site or just minutes away. If you are really energetic you could even tackle some of the Cleveland Way which passes the site. However for the less energetic ones buses for Whitby and Scarborough pass through the village and for the fortunate ones like myself they welcome concessionary bus passes. Facilities at the site are excellent with free showers and baths, a full disabled washroom, dishwashing areas, a baby change room and a children’s play area. Cooked take-away meals are available most days at the site including breakfasts. For the thirsty the local pub is just 5 minutes away.

Sue and I will be on the site right through but members are welcome to join us for all or some of the 9 days and we will arrange to meet together on an evening. As it’s a Club Meet book the site yourself and mention you are with us and the Conway Group. The basic site fees for the equivalent dates this year were £23 for a caravan (includes electric hook up) and £22 for canvas with electric hook up (£18 without), but as in most sites in the region there are supplements for awnings, extra adults etc. I will put the 2016 prices on the Forum as soon as we have them and in the April magazine.  If you are intending to go, after booking, please either use the Forum or the club’s Facebook account or ring us on 07921 992 448 to let us know.

To book telephone the Middlewood Farm Holiday Park on 01947 880414 and tell them that you are with the Conway group. When with the Conway group. When we were last on the site with the club in September 2014 they ran out pitches and at least one member who wanted to continue his stay with us was unable to stay on so we suggest that if you are interested in going you book early and pay their deposit of £25. We have been advised that the earlier you book the more likely that we will be placed together. When booking they will require the length of your unit as pitch sizes vary, and your car registration.

PS We will be arranging for a ‘Ghost’ or a ‘Dracula’ walk in Whitby on one of the evenings for those who are brave enough to join us.

Rally at the Vale of Pickering Caravan and Camping Park,
Alleston, North Yorkshire
Thursday 13th – Sunday 16th October 2016

The Vale of Pickering Caravan and Camping Park is located close to Dalby Forest
near the market towns of Pickering, Malton and Helmsley. The seaside towns of Scarborough, Whitby, Filey and Bridlington are all within easy reach.

The rally has been timed to coincide with a special weekend when the clocks in Pickering and Whitby will be turned back to 1943 as part of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway’s “Railway in Wartime” weekend with wartime steam trains steaming between Pickering and Whitby.

Over the weekend thousands of visitors, many dressed in 1940s costumes, will flock in to Pickering to enjoy food and entertainment authentic to the period. There will be Parades through the town afternoon Tea Dances, evening ‘Big Band’ Dances, 1940’s Singers & Dancers, Military & Vintage Trade Stands, WWII Re-enactment Battles and Living History Displays.

We can guarantee that it will be a weekend to remember but must point out that to really get in to the spirit you will be expected to dress up and join in when you go in to Pickering on the Saturday.
